DNA

Right now the birds are teaching their hatchlings to sing

The world outside of the nest is unknown

No one needs to say, be brave little birds, be brave

It is in their DNA

Their mother sings to them so they may remember

Once again Spring has come

There is no visible precipice, yet we feel the edge of what we think we know

Be brave, my friend, be brave

It is in our DNA
