giving and taking

Today my yoga teacher’s (Marti from Vista Yoga)dharma sharing was very inspiring to me. I felt it in my body and self.
She spoke about the Tibetan practice of Tonglen (giving and taking).
It spoke to me of my/our place in the world, and how beneficial it is for me/us to be open to feeling and responding appropriately to my/our world.
“Tonglen” describes bringing the love and care and sufferings all the way to me/us, and I/we can feel the coming and going like ocean waves on my/our shore.
My/our being is capable of receiving and letting go of both love and suffering. This is a big deal.

Sometimes I have tried to deny the seasons and storms of my self, and in doing so have unconsciously denied not only my experience but the experience of others.

As an energy worker/being or sensitive person I/we will experiment with feeling into what is happening in my/our surroundings so the response of my/our being is appropriate. I/we must feel into the imbalance before sending the flavor of love that will bring balance.
This is similar to a good medical practitioner who listens carefully to her client before advising on the way to wholeness.
We are finding our way to wholeness, and wholeness means for everyone and everything.

Funny side note… sometimes, we fantasize about aliens, saints, goddesses, coming to save us in our time of need. Oh yes, I welcome external beneficial forces, I do. The texture and flavor of my existence is often improved, but at the end of the day, all I really know is the coming and going of my own breathe and life experience, in and out, taking and giving.

I am thankful to my teacher, Prem Rawat, for showing this truth to me, over and over.
