Sit With Me

Sit with me for a moment.

There is a cedar tree in the yard in front of my house that has created a small shelf, at the perfect spot for me to place a remembrance location. I imagine this took a long time.

Some would call it an altar and that word is fine but it drags along with it so many ideas and trappings. Maybe I will call it an altar, only if you promise to come to that word with a simple heart.

In my imagination, I heard the tree speaking to me saying, I have been waiting for you, I have hoped and prepared a long time for the time that you would come. This is for you.

Was even I created, prayed into possibility for this time?

We are capable of preparing.

Our society has told us that what we make is for us, right now, for us.

The mother tells me that there is great joy and completion in openly preparing the foundations and internal energies that are what makes our future prayers a reality.

So yes, the “future” has been waiting, hoping for us. May we each bring the sweetest possible gift for those who stand on our shoulders.

And so it is, may I remember and bring these words into my daily heart and through my feet and hands on to the earth. And so it is.
